配信中にウィンドウを隠す

Stream with display capture in OBS or Streamlabs and your viewers see your whole screen. What leaks is rarely the window you opened on purpose. It's usually one of these:

  • a chat app's taskbar button flashing orange when a message arrives;
  • the row of tray icons in the corner, and the notifications they pop;
  • the notification chime, mixed straight into your stream audio;
  • a tool window you keep flipping in and out mid-stream (chat overlay, notes, a dashboard), some of which can't even be minimized.

What the usual fixes miss

Switch to window capture. Capturing only the game or one window is the safest option, until you need to show your desktop, a browser or another app mid-stream. Then you're adding sources or switching scenes, and the moment you're back on display capture, the taskbar and tray are too.

"Hide from capture" plugins and tools. These make a window visible to you but not to the stream, which is right for notes you need to read. But they only handle the window itself: a flashing taskbar button and the tray icons still land in the capture, and they usually work inside one streaming app only.

Focus Assist / Do Not Disturb and Discord's Streamer Mode. They mute banners and some sounds, but don't hide a window that is already open, and Streamer Mode only covers Discord itself.

gohide: clear the screen before you go live (free edition)

gohide takes the selected apps off the screen completely: window, taskbar button and tray icon together. Nothing that isn't on screen can be captured, so it works the same with OBS, Streamlabs, Teams or any recorder, with no plugin involved.

  1. Download gohide and add your chat apps and personal browser (up to 3 apps free).
  2. In each app's options, choose Mute it, so not even a chime reaches the stream.
  3. Press the Hide all hotkey Ctrl+Alt+H before you go live; Ctrl+Alt+Shift+H brings everything back after.

If a hidden chat app gets a message and opens a new window, that window is hidden too (free, on by default).

Mid-stream: one mouse button to hide and show (Pro)

If you keep tucking a window away and calling it back during a stream, hand the job to the mouse instead of a key combo:

  1. Open Settings → Mouse triggers and pick the middle or a side button under Hide all on mouse button.
  2. Under Show again by mouse, choose Press again: one press hides, the next brings it back. The middle button is busy in browsers, so if you're worried about stray clicks choose Double-click: a single press only hides, and a quick double-click restores.

The mouse button drives Hide all, so every app on your list hides and returns together. Keep the window you flip mid-stream on the list on its own. A screen corner works as a trigger too; see hot corners.

Stepping away: hide everything behind a "Be right back" card (Pro)

The privacy cover can put a full-screen picture up the moment you hide everything. Choose Custom file… and use your own "Be right back" card; restoring everything takes the cover down too. Turn on Hide everything after I'm idle as a safety net in case you forget.

Stream Deck

gohide's hotkeys are system-wide, so a Stream Deck Hotkey action can send them directly: one key for Ctrl+Alt+H (hide all), another for Ctrl+Alt+Shift+H (show all). No plugin needed. You can change the combos in gohide; see hotkeys.

To be clear: gohide really hides

What gohide hides is invisible to your viewers and to you. If you need notes that only you can see while the stream can't, use a hide-from-capture tool; that isn't what gohide does. For chat apps and private windows that shouldn't be on screen at all during a stream, taking them off the screen is the most reliable fix.

Free vs Pro

Clearing the screen before you go live, hiding the taskbar and tray along with the windows, and muting while hidden are all in the free edition, for up to 3 apps, with no time limit. One-button mouse hide and show, hot corners, auto-hide when idle, the privacy cover and auto-hide rules are in gohide Pro: one-time purchase, free updates, no subscription. See pricing.
