2026 Windows 11 보스 키 앱 추천
A boss key hides what's on your screen with one keypress and brings it back with another. The idea dates from DOS games, and plenty of Windows tools still do it. They differ a lot, though, in what they hide and in how well they cope with Windows 11. This round-up compares the ones people most often consider in 2026.
Disclosure: gohide is our own app. We've tried to be fair about where each tool is the better pick; competitor facts come from vendor sites and public directory listings and may change.
What to look for
- Tray icons. Hiding a window but leaving its icon in the notification area isn't really hiding. On current Windows 11 builds, many older tools no longer clear tray icons.
- Which apps. Some tools hide everything; others hide only the apps you pick, or only the window in front.
- Restore. Does everything come back where it was, or do you have to rearrange?
- Sound. A hidden video or game that keeps playing gives you away.
- Maintenance. Windows changes; a tool last updated years ago may still run but miss newer behaviour.

The apps
gohide
Pick the apps once; Ctrl+Alt+H hides their windows, taskbar buttons and tray icons together, and Ctrl+Alt+Shift+H restores them in place. Hidden apps stay hidden when they open a new window, and can be muted. Pro adds process suspend (a hidden game stops using CPU and GPU), a privacy cover screen, auto-hide rules, hot corners and a PIN lock. Windows 10 and 11, x64 and ARM64; Microsoft Store and winget. Offline, no account, no telemetry. Best for: Windows 11 users who hide the same few apps regularly, including tray icons.
Boss Key (MindGems)
The best-known name in the category. One hotkey or mouse gesture hides every window, with an exclusion list, and it can also hide desktop icons, change the volume or switch the display resolution. Paid; the demo restores everything after 10 seconds. Best for: hiding everything at once, or Windows 7/8. Full comparison.
Magic Boss Key
A small free hotkey hider for the active window, plus desktop icons and the taskbar. Last released in 2019, before the Windows 11 notification-area changes. Best for: a zero-cost hotkey for whatever is in front. Full comparison.
Taskbar Hide (Eusing)
A long-running freeware taskbar utility: hide or minimize windows to a tray icon, hide less-used tray icons and reorder taskbar buttons. Best for: taskbar tidy-up, with hiding as a side feature. Full comparison.
HiddeX
A tiny portable freeware tool that hides a window from the desktop and taskbar with a click or hotkey. Best for: one occasional window, no install. Full comparison.
Clicky Gone
An open-source (GPL) classic that hides selected windows and their taskbar buttons and can park hidden apps as tray icons. The last releases are from 2012–2013. Best for: a free, open-source hider on older setups. Full comparison.
No-install options built into Windows
- Win+D shows the desktop; Win+M minimizes everything. Fast, but taskbar buttons and tray icons stay, and a click brings windows back.
- Virtual desktops (Ctrl+Win+→) hide windows and taskbar buttons, but the tray is shared across desktops and sound keeps playing.
- Taskbar settings can move tray icons into the hidden-icons menu permanently. See how to hide tray icons on Windows 11.
Which one to choose
- On Windows 11, and the tray icon matters → gohide.
- You want every window gone, including desktop icons, and don't mind paying → Boss Key.
- You want something free and tiny for the window in front → Magic Boss Key or HiddeX.
- You want open source → Clicky Gone, accepting that it's no longer updated.
Download gohide: free for up to 3 apps, no time limit.
